| | 4 June 2016HIGHERReviewEditorialThe legend that most Indian students apply for engineering is a myth lost with the ages. According to the AISHE 2013-14 Provisional Report, the largest number of Students are enrolled in B.A. programmes followed by B.Com and B.Sc. programmes. At Undergraduate level the highest number (40 percent) of students are enrolled in Arts/Humanities/Social Sciences courses followed by Engineering & Technology (17 percent), Commerce (15 percent) and Science (12 percent). The high cost of Technical education coupled with the sub-par quality of engineering education has led to the decline in the number of applications. In-order to improve the quality of technical education of the country the blanket methodology of evaluation of technical institutions needs to be changed.
