Owing to its unique pedagogy and evaluation approach, students from different countries have selected Italy as their preferred higher education destination. In this special issue, we have focused on the country's higher education landscape. The cover story of this issue features International Telematic University UNINETTUNO. With its origin from the training model of NETTUNO - Network per l'Università Ovunque, a consortium of 43 Italian and foreign universities and the Italian Ministry of Higher education, UNINETTUNO is on a mission to bring innovation in the University System through the use of new technologies in teaching and learning process. Working towards this mission, UNINETTUNO has created and developed a global network of universities, starting from the Mediterranean countries and now extended to the world based on the creation of common curricula of studies, double degrees, and training of the professors on the use of new technologies. Also featuring in this issue is Guglielmo Marconi University which is the first university in the national academic landscape of Italy to offer its students a model of distance learning. As the first Italian digital university to be accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education in 2004, Guglielmo Marconi University works with a notion to introduce technology across the spectrums of higher education to allow wider access to education for students who couldn't study and work only in a residential way. After scrutinizing the colleges and universities in Italy, we have narrowed it down to the top 10 universities and colleges that have showcased exceptional academic expertise. With the intent to transform the lives of students, these colleges have exhibited the acumen to adapt to the evolution of the educational field and help students emerge victorious.
