Education in the age of artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the simulations of human intelligence processes by machines including learning and self-correction. It has several applications, comprising of software simulations and robotics which is self-aware and conscious to take decisions. AI is used in education and learning as it continues to influence and shape educational and learning industries and allow new ones to emerge, there is a need to prepare students for a world in which AI plays an increasingly dominant role.

Artificial intelligence serves as a catalyst for transformation in the field of education as this shift in the educational system of assumptions, concepts, values, and practices constitutes a way of viewing reality has a very deep impact on the way we live and interact with each other. AI has recently attracted attention for its potential to improve education quality and enhance traditional teaching and learning methods. The classroom which used to be a physical space is becoming a virtual “space” using virtual reality technologies and the student in tomorrow’s AI-based educational experience will be exposed to an immersive, digital education. The distributed, networked, virtual reality classroom is becoming enormously exciting.

If students become more deeply involved in the pathways of their own learning through AI, the measurement will occur from moment to moment, as well as the success of remediation. We can know at the end of each student’s day if she/he is meeting requirements and quickly correct deficiencies as necessary to stay on track. As different students have different learning styles, abilities, interests and needs, one teacher in a classroom of 50 students will rarely be able to cater to each of those needs. Homework and classes could be customized based on a student profile; interests can be enhanced by exposing students to different courses and content with the help of Artificial Intelligence. Routine tasks such as taking attendance, grading assignments, and generating test questions can be performed by AI making teacher’s life easy going.

Automated grading is being used to simulate the behaviour of a teacher to assign grades to essays written in an educational setting. It can assess students' knowledge, analysing their answers, giving feedback and making personalized training plans. Computer-adaptive assessments adjust the difficulty of successive questions based on the accuracy of the student’s answers, enabling more precise identification of a student’s mastery level.  Artificial intelligence can find out when you most likely have forgotten something and recommend you revise it. It takes only a few revisions to make sure that the information is now stored in your memory for many years. AI enables Virtual facilitators that can be highly useful in the educational domain. Who will quickly and accurately answer to student’s requests.

This age of AI personalized learning refers students to a variety of educational programs in which the pace of learning and the instructional approach are optimized for the needs of each learner. The experience is tailored to learning preferences and the specific interests of different learners. AI can adapt to the individual pace of learning and can consistently offer more complex tasks to accelerate learning. Thus, both fast and slow students can continue to study at their own pace. It is assumed that artificial intelligence in schools can track the progress of each individual student and either adjust the course or inform the teacher about the material that a given student has difficulty comprehending. Integrating innovations like artificial intelligence into the classroom will be essential for the long-term success of the students.
