Philadelphia has witnessed some of the best influential educational institutes and organizations under an umbrella. The 2nd annual Wharton-QS Stars: Reimagine Education awards and conference, a global award for innovative higher education pedagogies enhancing learning and employability.
The award appreciates the best innovative projects designed to improve pedagogy and employability with $ 25,000 prize money. The projects are selected among some of the world's most influential educational figures, organizations and universities by a panel of forty distinguished international judges. Osmosis, a US-based organization has won one of the two important prizes, while IIT Bombay won the Nurturing Employability Award with the project title 'Spoken Tutoria'. Among 520 projects submitted this year in eleven highly-contested categories more than 50 projects has been attributed in the occasion.
The conference had been witnessed by 350 delegates discussing about innovation in higher education, considering ways to improve pedagogy and employability and reward the best projects that aim to do so. The conference provides a forum for intensive, dynamic discussion into the best ways to use technology for improved educational and economic outcomes. As the world faces a constant change in educational landscape, such new and innovative ideas are indulged to make the best to procure the learning system. The event was attended by several education experts from Google, IBM and organizations focusing on education such as edX, U2, General Assembly, Noodle Education and Kaplan. Deans and senior academics from leading universities such as Harvard, MIT, UPenn and Dartmouth have also joined the same.
On the occasion, Professor Jerry Wind of The Wharton School and co-host of Reimagine Education 2015, announced the addition of two new awards for 2016. The Ethical Leadership Award sponsored by the Global Foundation of Education and Leadership which will recognize pedagogies aimed at developing ethical leaders and the Sustainability Award sponsored by Agile Property Holdings Limited. The prize money has also been increased up to $ 50,000.
