Grand Finale of AISECT Kaushal Championship 2018 in Bhopal on 25th October

The Grand Finale of the ongoing AISECT Kaushal Championship 2018 will be held in Bhopal on 25th October. The Championship was announced on 15th July on the occasion of the World Youth Skills Day and has witnessed participation from over 5,000 students and practitioners, in the age group of 18 to 35, across 8 states, namely Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab and Jharkhand. The top 100 shortlisted participants from these states, after clearing two rounds of screening in their respective state, will be competing at the national level for the ‘AISECT Skills Hero’ title.

AISECT Kaushal Championship 2018, which had free registrations, is an initiative of India’s leading skill development provider AISECT, to spread awareness about skill development and recognize the skilled individuals at the district, block and panchayat level areas of the target states. Domestic Data Entry Operator, Assistant Electrician, Welding Assistant, Sewing Machine Operator and Field Technician (Computing & Peripherals) are the five job roles for which the Championship is being held. The national level winners for each category will be felicitated with a Certificate of Appreciation and prizes like Bluetooth Speakers, Power Banks and Phones.

AISECT’s Director Mr. Siddharth Chaturvedi says, “The Indian education system has always been theoretically inclined. Although the situation has improved in major cities in the recent years, there is still a huge gap in terms of skill recognition or skill development initiatives in the rural and semi urban areas. India is developing at a quick pace and will need approximately 700 million skilled workers by 2022 to meet the demands of a growing economy. All our initiatives are aimed at making people in the remotest corners of the country job-ready so that they can address this massive demand and be a part of the country’s growth story. With AISECT Kaushal Vikas Championship, we aim to filter out the skill heroes of the target regions and work towards enhancing their skills. In the inaugural edition of this initiative, we are focusing on 8 states. Next year, we aim to organize the Championship in many more states.”

AISECT Kaushal Championship 2018 has been held in three increasingly difficult stages, starting with the centre level wherein the participants had to appear for the test at their nearest AISECT Centre. The top performers at the centre level qualified for the state-level championship. The top 100 state-level performers across the 5 job roles will now compete with each other during a day-long competition that will be held at the Rabindranath Tagore University in Bhopal.

The Grand Finale of this mega competition will comprise of a written test as well as practical assessment for all the job roles. The tests will be subject-specific as per the job role chosen by the contestant. For the candidates competing in the ‘Domestic Data Entry Operator’ category, there will also be a computer-based round to test the typing speed and accuracy of the participant. The test structure has been formulated by certified trainers and experts at the AISECT PMKK centres. All candidates will be adjudged on the basis of skill efficiency, accuracy and knowledge of their respective job role. For an unbiased judgment, representatives from the Sector Skills Councils have been invited to act as the jury.

AISECT Kaushal Championship 2018 is the latest in a series of skill development initiatives that have been taken by AISECT over the last three decades for the empowerment of people residing in semi-urban and rural parts of India.
