Campus placements can be one's ticket to a great future. As students reach their final year of bachelors/ master’s programme, placement concerns begin hovering into their mind. Your First step towards long-term career depends on how you carry yourself before the interviewers during your placement interview, be it campus placement or off campus. Placement interviews are mostly conducted into sections which include HR round, Logical Reasoning, General Aptitude, Technical, Group discussion, and General English.
Your Resume is the window to present yourself briefly, so frame a crisp and concise intro and keep your CV short, preferably lasting for one-two pages. Include the skills and qualifications that relate to the specific job for which you are applying. You should make ample of research of the employer before appearing for the placement interview. It is also important to read newspapers and magazines and stay updated on the latest world events.
Be yourself, make eye contact with your interviewers and always follow your values. You are going to be tested not only for what you know about your area of expertise but also on how you present yourself at the interview. Meet the interviewers warmly; it is good and appreciable if you offer a strong handshake to them with a smile on your face. Strong handshake shows warmth and enthusiasm while Smile on your face reflects a charming personality. Be well dressed, be straight forward and do your basics correct. Right body language and formal dress code always get plus points for you.
During the interview, show your interest in the job that you are going to be assigned if you get selected. It should be reflected on the interviewer that your job priorities are not going to change very soon. Basics and concepts of your subjects should be very clear in your mind and you should have a strong grip on your domain. Show more interest in the job and try to show if you get selected how your day would be like. Follow up with a thank you after you are done with the interview and try to get feedback from the interviewer that will help you with the upcoming interviews.
You should avoid back-to-back interviews, as it can be hectic and tiring and you may lose interest for the next interview. Many candidates find it difficult to handle the stress level before an interview. Being stressed is natural but you should learn to clear it off. An optimum level of stress is needed and is natural with all of us. Do not bother about it. Just take a long breath and nervousness will go away.
