New Zealand has opened the doors for the Indian students where a large number of students are moving towards New Zealand for their higher education. Over the last 10years, there is 12% increase in the number of international students in New Zealand from India.
India has known to be a Second largest source of overseas students for New Zealand and it is found that there is an eminent increase in the percentage of students visas session from India (i.e. from January-July 2014). According to the research; since the last year there was a stable percentage as compared to this year. The total number of student visa has been increased by 83% hence; this report was published by the Grahame Morton, the New Zealand High Commissioner and he further says that the country's economic future is tied with their key relationship with India.
The Immigration Manager of New Zealand Nathanael Mackay said, “The New Zealand Government has made changes to their work rights programme which allow more international students to work while they study, enabling them to gain valuable first world business experience whilst they study.”
In the year 2013; almost 11,984 students of India were pursuing the higher education in New Zealand. The top most disciplines of Indian students in New Zealand are as follows:
- Management and commerce students with 38%
- Information Technology Students with 15%
- Engineering and Related Technologies with 10% and Health with 10%.
Hence, New Zealand plays an important role in the field of Indian students Higher Education.
