LPU organized Seminar how to use 'Social Networking for Education'

Jalandhar: For the last many years LPU has been organizing workshops & seminars for school principals and teachers. After getting updated, principals & teachers further guide their students to let them abreast with latest trends and technologies. Recently, LPU organized seminar on how to use ‘Social Networking’ for education. More than 100 principals & teachers from 40 schools including 20 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Schools from Chandigarh Zone participated. The seminar was organized under corporate social responsibility project of the university- ‘Disha’. Under this project, school students, teachers, principals, parents are guided through mutual discussions & interactions for required betterment in educational scenario.


The seminar provided a broad perspective on how to use Social Media for the benefit of education. Additional Dean & Head of LPU Info-Tech Division, Mr Rohit Dhand explained: “Social networking has affected us all in a big way.” Generally Social Media is taken negatively; however, on using suitably for greater ends it brings out marvellous positive results. It not only helps in connecting ourselves to our network but also helps in our business, projects and to grow the networking at much faster pace.  The need of the hour is to teach young students to develop a positive attitude towards using social networking for editing and modifying contents, thinking new about online designs/layouts, communication skills, creative original works like poetry, and above all safe and responsible usage.


The seminar held 3 technical sessions held by LPU experts on different aspects of online social networks. Panel Discussion, feedbacks from the participants, open forum for mutual discussions and allied activities remained other salient features of the seminar. Addressing the participants LPU Director General Er HR Singla shared: “We are happy to see your enthusiastic & massive participation. It is indeed an inspiring call to all other educationists to get awakened to impart regularly updated education to their students.  In fact, this organization is to share our resources to bridge the gaps in the ways of school and university teachings. Our sole aim is to add more to the knowledge pool of the teachers so that they may be able to nourish their students to get higher education in an engrossing manner.”


During valedictory ceremony certificates of participation were distributed to all the participants. One of the participating Principals, Mr Ambish Kumar from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya  Hamirpur (HP) shared: “We all participants are indeed lucky on learning a lot from the subject experts and senior functionaries of the world class university LPU. Our imbibing at LPU will really help our students and, in turn, the society. We have added much to our knowledge about security of social networking and all pros and cons of electronic knowledge. I would also like to share that such efforts should continue in future too.”
