A student, who would have got gold medal in the MBA course, may now ranked fourth in the batch due to an unexpected change in the pattern of calculation after the completion of the examination of the four semester course in 2014.
This issue was noticed and registrar through memorandum by the MBA students of Department of Business and Industrial Management (DBIM) to the VNSGU. "The department used to prepare the final result at the end of the course by calculating the marks of all four semesters but now after the completion of the fourth semester examination, the university has come up with a new formula which will consider only the marks of third and fourth semesters for tabulation of the final result of MBA.”
One of the students came forward to ask the details about that “how could the university make changes in the method of calculating the marks after the completion of fourth semester examinations? A student who had been performing consistently would not be the topper, but someone who has got good marks only in his third and fourth semesters."
Kalpesh Rawal, senate member from management faculty in VNSGU, says that she has been requested the university authorities to revoke the decision. If the university wants to bring in a new pattern, then it should be from a new academic session.
A senior academician says, No other university will make changes in the basic rules for examination when a batch is already studying for a course. This can prove costly for the image of the university and the department and create a bad impression on the minds of the employers.
VNSGU vice-chancellor Dakshesh Thakar says whatever the decision has been taken to reduce examination-related work pressure on the university. The decision was taken after considering all the points.
