Students from JAIST to study in IITGn

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn) is set to host nearly a dozen of Japanese students from Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST). A team of students from JAIST will be sent to IIT Gandhi Nagar to study and understand the institute’s interdisciplinary and project oriented curriculum. A delegation of four members from JAIST had visited IIT Gandhinagar on Friday January 16, 2015, to explore various ways of collaboration. President at JAIST, Dr Tetsuo Asano said, “We are planning to send a team of our students to study at IITGN and also look at its interdisciplinary studies. We have been receiving students from India for several years but this will be the first time our students are going to India.”

IITGN and JAIST signed MoU in November 2013. The MoU focuses mainly on exploring opportunities and possibilities for the exchange of students and faculty, cultural exchange, develop educational and scientific exchange and cooperation and such joint initiatives. As a part of the exchange programme, a team of students from IIT-Gn will also visit JAIST in March. IITGN Director, Professor Sudhir K Jain said, “The collaboration with JAIST is a great opportunity to share experience and good practices from each other in advancing our mutual interest of becoming world-class institutes. Globalization is a key pillar of IIT Gandhinagar’s educational mission in the deeply interconnected world that our graduates will enter.”
