The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the schedule for the 2024 board exams for Classes 10 and 12. The exams will start on February 15, 2024 and end on April 10, 2024. The dates can be found on the official website, cbse.gov.in.
The exam period will last approximately 55 days. CBSE stated in its notification that "all organisations holding any examination are requested to fix the dates of their examinations keeping the schedule of board examinations in mind."
This year's board exams were held from February 15 to March 21 for Class 10 students and from February 15 to April 5 for Class 12 students. On May 12, the results were announced.
This year's overall pass percentage for Class 12 was 87.33 percent, while Class 10 passed at 93.12 percent. Over 16 lakh students took the Class 12 board exams, and over 21 lakh took the Class 10 board exams. The pass percentage in Class 12 fell by 5.38 percent, while it fell by 1.28 percent in Class 10. Girls had a higher pass rate in both classes.
This year, the CBSE did not release a merit list in order to avoid unhealthy competition amongst students. Also, it stated from now onwards students compartment exams will be called supplementary exams.
