Haryana Gurukuls to Change Affiliation from State Universities to School Education Board

Haryana School Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar announced a significant change in the affiliation of Gurukuls within the state on Sept 12. Previously affiliated with state universities, Haryana's Gurukuls will now be affiliated with the School Education Board, providing students with equal opportunities for higher education as students in general schools. He directed officers to create a policy in this regard as soon as possible.

The Minister met with representatives from 25 Gurukuls across the state, expressing gratitude for the presence of a significant number of Gurukuls in Haryana that follow traditional (Sanskritik) educational methods.

During discussions with Gurukul representatives, various demands and concerns were raised, and Gujjar assured them of prompt resolution. He specifically noted that Gurukuls established prior to 2003 should be seamlessly integrated into the U-Dise code system via the MIS portal. The Minister instructed senior officers from the School Education Department to schedule a meeting with a delegation on the upcoming Monday to address pending issues.

During the meeting, officials provided the Minister with an update on the progress of the 'My Tree-My Number' tree plantation scheme, noting that Haryana schools had achieved a 95% completion rate. He directed them to complete the task by the first week of October. He also directed officials to revise the rules governing the Consolidated Children's Welfare Fund (CCWF) to better reflect current school demand.
