Saudi Arabia Set to Launch AI Education Across Public Schools

  • AI curriculum to be introduced from elementary to university level
  • Initiative supports Vision 2030 and future workforce development
  • Expansion follows SDAIA’s earlier high school AI pilot course

Saudi Arabia is set to launch artificial intelligence (AI) education in all public schools beginning next academic year, representing a significant advancement in its Vision 2030 strategy to enhance innovation and international competitiveness.

The national curriculum, created by the National Curriculum Center in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), will incorporate AI concepts for learners from elementary school up to university, technical education, and lifelong learning initiatives.

As reported by the Saudi Press Agency, the curriculum includes modules that are interactive, hands-on, and suitable for various grade levels. These modules are structured to advance gradually from one academic level to ensure seamless skill advancement and strong student assessment frameworks.

The initiative aligns with the Human Capability Development Program within Vision 2030, which seeks to cultivate a workforce prepared for the future, possessing essential values and advanced technical skills.

The implementation comes after SDAIA’s previous announcement in April regarding a course titled “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” for third-year general-track high school students. This pilot program will act as a basis for incorporating AI throughout the wider academic environment.

Saudi Arabia’s efforts to incorporate AI education at every level demonstrate its desire to excel in advanced technology and develop a knowledge-driven economy.
