The Summer Research Internship Programme (SRIP) 2026 has been announced by IIT Gandhinagar for undergraduate/postgraduate students. This programme gives students across India and the world hands-on experience in research at one of India’s best institutes for technology.
Students will work alongside faculty on innovative research projects in many different areas of study. Interns will have increased opportunities for rigorous scientific exploration, improved skillsets related directly to research, and experience with solving real-world problems while under the guidance of qualified mentors through this programme.
The summer internship typically runs for six to eight weeks during the May June 2026 period, giving participants ample time to immerse themselves in research activities.
The program offers multiple research areas for students to select based on their academic interests, which include engineering and natural sciences and humanities and social sciences.

The internship helps students develop theoretical understanding through practical research methods and data analysis skills and technical communication abilities, which they need for their future academic and research work in both academic and industry settings.
Candidates can apply when they are currently studying at a recognized university for a bachelor's or master's degree and they have maintained strong academic performance.
Students who wish to apply must complete their online application process before the deadline which requires them to submit their academic transcripts and statement of purpose and letters of recommendation.
The selection process for shortlisted candidates will evaluate their academic achievements and research capabilities and their compatibility with faculty research projects. The program will allow successful interns to present their research findings at the end of the program while exceptional interns will receive research opportunities at IIT Gandhinagar.
