Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering & Technology was established at Kalady with the aim of providing value added technical education with flair of professional excellence and ethical values. Established in 2001, the institute is run by the ADI SANKARA TRUST and believes in fostering all round development of the students.
Programs Offered:
The institute offers a variety of undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral programs in various branches in the engineering domain.
Industry Institute Relations:
ASIET has signed MoUs with Infosys and TCS. Infosys is offering the students of ASIET more than 8 courses which will provide them the necessary skills and bridge the gap to become employable. The courses are designed in such a way where Infosys will teach their own syllabus and provide the students who have completed the courses with certificates.
In order to ensure that students from small town colleges who lack soft skills a better future, the institute has signed up with Infosys to conduct the Campus Connect program. Infosys is providing a course in business English through its Campus Connect Program to develop communication skills of students. In doing so, students from small town colleges who lack soft skills will be able to acquire and improve these skills. Students studying at ASIET are also able to work in real time projects with a variety of IT companies who have their offices in the renowned cyber parks in Kerala named Technopark and Infopark.
Academic Resources:
Breaking fresh ground, Adi Shankara group of Institutions was one of the few groups to be part of the Knowledge Network program. The Knowledge network is comprised of various Knowledge centers integrates various information available in premier institutes like IITs, IEEE under \"Sakshat\"- The National Mission on Education through ICT. The project was envisaged by BSNL, NME-ICT (National Mission on Education through Information and Technology) under Ministry of Human Resource Development Central Govt. New Delhi. These Knowledge Centers have digital libraries, e-journals, on line student portal, on line exam test facilities, e-libraries, and e-journals as well as video content of various subjects like engineering arts and science of more than ten thousand books.
The Library at ASIET is committed to providing quality service and a collection of materials to support needs of students and faculty members. It is a center for quality information resources for the college community and has a good collection of video lecturers from IITs & IIMs are available in the library. There are also about 100 national journals and the institute has subscribed the International Journals such as J-GATE, IEEE, EBSCO and ELSAVIER- SCIENCE DIRECT. The institute is also proud of its Research Center in Computer Science which has state-of-the-art systems and was inaugurated by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Faculty:
The fully outfitted campus has faculty strength of close to 200 where in 21 professors are PhD holders. The management has ensured that the faculty members are deep-rooted in their core subjects. ASIET also ensures that the faculty members are good mentors who can mold the students to become experts in the subjects they are interested. The faculty members are not limited to teaching inside the campus; and actively participate in guiding students\' research activities that take place in the recently inaugurated research centre.

\'Bhrahma\' which is a 3 days festival is one of the biggest events conducted by the students of the institute. The event starts with \'Thyagaraja Aradhana\' where eminent personalities from arts are honored and the program followed by various cultural and technical competitions. In 2008 ASIET has conducted free computer literacy program for people in Kalady Panchayth and has also started a host of water harvesting projects on Camps. Under an innovative project program a multi utility vehicle was designed by the Mechanical Engineering students, which is the first of its kind.

Dr. (Prof.) S. Gopalakrishna Iyer holds a ME and a PhD and is the current Director of ASIET. He believes that India's transition to a knowledge economy requires a new generation of educated and skilled people.
