Internet of things , advanced V LSI, machine shops, flexible manufacturing system labs, these are the labs that BITM has set up for various purposes and through these labs the students of the institute are able to take their regular classes to next level with practical experience. The students are involved in consultancy projects, where they develop prototypes of different products and deliver it to the companies. So far the institute has successfully completed 7 consultancy projects. These are not simple labs but center of excellence's equipped with latest technology and managed by the industry experts, who are also the faculty of the institution. The institute has PhD holders and industry experts with a minimum of 15 years of teaching and industry experience as their faculty.
With a pool of faculty who are well acquainted and highly skilled in research work, the institution has an elaborate research background. The faculty and the students publish papers in reputed peer reviewed national and international journals regularly and the students are engrossed in research projects related to their field and specialization. Most of the research projects are funded by external funding agencies such as Vision group of science and technology, Karnataka council for technological upgradation, and AICTE. The institute also organizes regular seminars and workshops in order to encourage the students for research. “By working on research assignments the students are able to understand their subjects more comprehensively and it also makes them more curious about their subjects and drives them,” says Prof Prithvi Raj Y J,Deputy Director, Ballari Institute of technology and Management.
Apart from excellent ground on research, the institution is known for their industry connects. Ironically, the fact that they are located away from the city has been an advantage to the establishment as the institute is able to provide an advantageous environment and is also able to maintain industry connects. BITM has set up an Industry institute relation cell in Bangalore which helps the institute get connected with the companies and remain in touch with them. The institute maintains MoUs with several reputed organizations such as Texas instruments, Infosys and Wipro. The MoUs are very beneficial for the students; the institution maintains collaboration with Jspiders for training the students on java and other technical courses that are applicable in the industry. BITM trains their students’ right from the start, gradually from the basics of the industry, soft skills to the personality development. The internships are also arranged by the institution to complete the training process and after the students complete their training they are placed in reputed companies. JSW steels limited, Mind Tree, Tech Mahindra,SLK Softwares, and Infosys are the major recruiters of the institute.
Not only the research and the placements but the institution also places a lot of importance in the curriculum and the teaching pedagogy, BITM follows a blended method of learning which is student centric and outcome based. By making the students spend more time in the labs, the faculty of the institution makes the students apply what they learn in class in practicality. The faculty development programme by the institution keeps the faculty updated about the industry and the academia trends. With all the right amenities, BITM is one of the most preferred engineering colleges in Karnataka.
