Illuminating Quality Technical Education
Students of Cambridge Institute of Technology are at the forefront among others showcasing their talent and essence of quality technical education being considered among the best in the State of Karnataka.
Cambridge Institute of Technology has been awarded for Best Scientist, Best Research and Innovation Campus Award in recent times. As the Principal of the institute shares, "Students today no longer enjoy monotonous teaching, they do not want to sit for longer classes or concentrate only on the theoretical aspects of knowledge. They carry a mindset of a skilled based and outcome based training which involves an interactive teaching methodology." This outcome based learning can seem very simple but is the most challenging part in imparting education and this challenge is met victoriously by Cambridge Institute of Technology.
Very often educational institutes are seen boasting about their facilities, infrastructure, milestones achieved and as a result they forget the very basic foundation- the curriculum. But CIT believes in and strictly follows an interactive form of learning which could retain interest of students on their education without any fail. This interactive form is to make traditional form of learning interesting with the inclusion of different learning tools. Besides using ICT tools such as online models, LCD projectors; CIT uses innovative mode of learning in the form of animation, video lectures and many more. The learning process being the main area of concern, the institute holds a group of dedicated faculty members to employ the same effectively. The training methodology is responsible for making students active learners and seekers of new things and is imbibed with the importance of self learning promoting their minds to explore their knowledge quotient and experiment on the knowledge acquired.
CIT has over 200+ faculty members in the campus and about 30 of them holds PhD and approximately 60 are currently pursuing the same. With an average experience of 15 years, the members have expertise in their subject area and are believed to be the backbone of the institute. Being an integral part of CIT, these members are offered development programs of 15 days every semester wherein they receive technology enabled training for example through Microsoft Technology Enrich Program, NPTL India and Apple.
The institute also has an international learning centre where students can connect to international universities such as Harvard, Cambridge and connect with all the faculty members of these institutes. Under this centre, every student is required to pursue at least one certificate course a year intended to take advantage of using technology to the maximum limits and improving chances of placements.
As the campus is Wi-Fi enabled and tied up with the Google app engine wherein students can create fonts, documents,, spreadsheets and share knowledge with one another. Every class has been made into a Google classroom where the teachers and students can interact through their smart phones which is also used for updating notes. The students have created departmental apps which serves useful in communication between teachers and students, digital evaluation of examination papers and many more.
Students of CIT are proud to have the best infrastructure in terms of research laboratories and all the amenities required in innovation. The institute has research labs in each of the department and an innovation and skill development centre. These labs house a number of research works and projects conducted by the faculty and students at the same time. CIT emphasizes on collaborative projects of departments which includes 'a study on the Venkaya Lake- the behavior and impacts of pollution on the river,' 'Studying migratory birds in Karnataka' and a project on nano satellite all which hare government funded projects.
The institute has MoU with University of Central Oklahoma for collaborative study and faculty exchange programs and Singapore University for the MBA program. Improving into a globalized form, CIT has tied up with UK institute receiving funds of Rs. 1 crore and Rs. 35 lakh for curriculum development and upgrade the teaching learning procedure respectively. With student strength of 2700, CIT in a span of nine years offers six disciplines of engineering and a management course and is ambitious to acquire a private university status in five years. Determined to excel in their efforts, CIT is yet to bring the best in technical education in the country.
