Located in the heart of Europe, Germany is a country of diverse landscapes and exciting cities. The diverse and charming landscape has attracted a lot many towards the place. Since this land opens its doors to everyone since 1960's, now it is known as a land of immigration. Today it is home to 6.9 million people of immigrant descent, approximately 8.5 percent of the total population. Most of them have come from Turkey, Italy and Poland. This charming land is also known for its pioneering inventions. Innovative ideas have strongly shaped Germany's past and will surely continue to do so in the future. Germany has produced a long list of revolutionary inventions, such as the automobile, the airbag, X-ray technology, Aspirin, the computer, the chip card and the MP3 data compression format. Science and research have a long tradition in Germany and are still highly valued today. The oldest German university was founded in Heidelberg in 1386. The list of German Nobel Prize winners is quite impressive as well. There are almost 70 German laureates in the natural sciences and medicine alone, such as Wilhelm Conrad Rintgen, Robert Koch, Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Christiane Nisslein-Volhard and Harald zur Hausen.

In Germany there are a hundreds of institutions that allow the opportunity for advanced degrees and other types of professional and vocational certification. There are state run universities and colleges, private universities and colleges and cooperative universities as well as other schools offering a full range of course studies through full time and part time participation. Getting admitted to a German state university can be a trying process. Many programs are restricted regarding numbers of new students and start only once per year. Acceptance of foreign credentials is difficult and credit transfers rarely happen without losses.

Studying in majority of German Universities is free of cost. There is no tuition fees charged for studying any of the diplomas, undergraduate or postgraduate courses in Germany. This is because majority of the universities in Germany are state-funded and so they don't ask for tuition fee from the students. However, the cost of living and food expenses need to be beard by the students. German universities teach both theoretical as well as practical aspects of any course. The students can learn everything under the sun by enrolling in any of these Universities. They become well-trained in their respective fields and can grab good jobs in market. Thus , the ideal land makes tempting future for many.
