Students from Heritage Business School have already started planning for the big day of their lives - the Graduation Day which is scheduled for August. Though there is a lot of time before the day, the graduation fever has set in and is taking ample amount of space in the thoughts of the students. Where, 92 percent of the students have already secured jobs before their graduation in reputed organizations such as KPMG PWC, Berger Paints, Patton MRF Tyres, ABP etc the rest are ready for their Final Interviews. The students have so far received packages of upto 8.5 lakh with an average of 3.5 lakhs per annum. Most of the students prefer working with the companies they complete their internships from. The Institute maintains tie ups with companies such as PWC particularly for internships. Internships prepare the students for their future endeavors. "We have started the process from winter internship projects, which is an optional project that the students can work on while they are idle during the vacations. This further leads to Summer Internship Program which is compulsory and is very helpful for the students in their learning process," says Prof. Malay Kumar Banerjee, Dean, Heritage Business School.
The School has maintained a consistent record of 100 percent Placement for the last two Sessions and strives to maintain the same in the future. With several innovative programs, HBS provides the students with opportunities that are beneficial for their career development. The Institute has a separate program called the Industry-Institute-Interface Program dedicated to providing the very best opportunities for exposure of the students to Industry. Under the Program the Institute makes it a point to organize regular seminars, conferences and workshops on issues that are significant for the career growth of the students. All the Interfaces are organized in collaboration with Industries, where Experts from the Industry interact and have discussions with the students and the Faculty of the School. International speakers also take part in the Seminars and the Workshops, Prof. Michael Anthony Potter of MAP International UK, Mr. Kevin Coutinho, University of Cambridge, UK, Dr. Sraboni Saha of Lincoln University UK are speakers to who visited the Institute during the last year.
By being an active part of all the activities organized under the Industry-Institute-Interface Program, the students become more confident in their endeavors. Personality Development and Soft Skill trainings further augment the overall individuality of the students and shape them into skilled and refined business professionals. One of the best features of the Institute is the Industry Mentor Scheme where a senior person from an organization mentors two students for a year. The students go to the companies during weekends and holidays and also during their Project works for real time exposure. Working under the Mentors, who are experts in their fields, the students become much focused on their subjects in a practical manner and are easily able to relate their theoretical concepts with the everyday processes of the industry.
Much is being done in the field of Research and Development by the Faculty and the students of HBS. Students are currently involved in Company Sponsored Research Projects on current trends of the business world. Faculty members from the Institution have published papers in International Journals and students have presented papers in International Conferences and Seminars. The Institute also organizes Faculty Development Programmes frequently to prepare the Faculty for the rapid changes in the Industrial trends and academic parameters. The Faculty also plays an active role in the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and guides the students at each step of the Entrepreneurial Process even after the Project is in operation.
Above all, the Institute involves the students in social activities that show genuine concern for the society. Heritage Business School has a very well connected community service center functioning as the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) unit of Entrepreneurship Cell which has so far successfully organized several free health camps and helped the underprivileged population of the nearby areas. All the camps are organized by the students with the help of their Faculty and the Experts from the Cell. The students are able to understand the social variables that affect the market policies and are able to assess what is important in their field through these experiences. These kind of social activities also make the students understand the importance of corporate social responsibility, which is one of the most significant aspects of the corporate world. Established in 2003, the Institute has grown exponentially in terms of educational excellence and industrial connections in a rather short period of time. CSR activities of HBS students include collection of old clothes and distribution to the poor organizing Blood Donation Camps and conducting various activities like sit and draw contests among the under privileged children.
