PACE Institute of Technology and Sciences
Dr. CV Subbarao, Director, PACE Institute of Technology and Sciences
An Institution for Aspiring Technocrats
PACE Institute of Technology and Sciences provides excellent skill development training through their skill development cell in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation.
Big data came as an answer to the questions of how to get from one point to another, how to learn about the endless number of technology and trends with infinite data. Experts say that by 2020 the digital universe that is of 4.4 zettabytes today to around 44 zettabytes or 44 trillion gigabytes, which will further increase the need for big data analytics. In 2015 IDA predicted that the shortage of skilled staff will persist and many positions requiring related skills in data management and interpretation will be open worldwide. The Big Data Boom in India is also apparent and where many institutions are still thinking of what is big data, PACE Institute of Technology and Sciences has progressed. The big data lab at PACE campus was set up two years ago. The lab has been extremely beneficial in training the students on big data analytics and for corporate research work the institute is involved in.
Other centers of excellence the institute hosts inside the campus are cloud lab, mobile computing lab and solar lab. These centers are set up to facilitate the students with high end technologies for their research projects. The students spend 6 hours a week in these labs, apart from their usual routine to work on their projects and to develop their own creative ideas. Every department has been provided with a lab that can be used for all inter departmental projects and researches. The students from Computer science and Mechanical department are both currently working on two projects funded by the DST. The institute organizes several seminars, conferences and workshops in order to encourage the students on research and development programs. The faculty and the students collectively have published 92 papers only last year.
As much as research is important the significance of skill development cannot be ignored in the current scenario of higher education in India and that is why the institute boasts of their skill development center. Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation selected the center as a regional centre in initiating a program on Mobile App Development. In the skill development training organized by the APSSDC the students from other colleges are also invited. The students are trained on several skills which is very helpful for todays industry. Skill development is a priority for the institution and hence, the skill development center organizes several workshops every year. In order to further prepare the students for industry the training and placement cell in the institution maintains several MoUs with organizations particularly for training purposes. Guttitech Solutions, Global career point and Feliz InfoTech solutions are the companies that the institution maintains collaborations for technical and field specific trainings.
Since the institution is located in a rural area the students are also trained separately on communication skills and personality development. The yearly campus recruitment in PACE witnesses a surge of reputed organizations with major recruiters such as Infosys, cognizant and Cyntel offering the students packages up to Rs.6 lakhs per annum. Apart from training and placement the institute also encourages the students for entrepreneurship through their entrepreneurship development cell. The institute has received funding from EDI Hyderabad for entrepreneurial endeavors of the students. This year 40 students have incubated their ideas in the EDC for their entrepreneurial ventures. The institute helps the students materialize their ideas into reality through the entrepreneurship development cell. The students are also active in NSS camps and other social activities such as awareness camps for technical knowhow and environmental conservation. With regular workshops, industry visits and guest lecturers form experts PACE makes it a point to keep the students updated about the industry. Having good industry connections and state of the art infrastructural facilities PACE is quickly becoming one of the most preferred destinations for aspiring engineering students.
