BSF Women Constables inspired thousands of LPU Girl students

Subsidiary Training Center of Border Security Force  (STC BSF)organized exhibition at LPU Campus

Jalandhar: May it be scorching Thar deserts, height of the Himalayas, marshy Sunderbans, never ending Rann of Kutch or the malaria prone hostile terrain of the North East; the first line of defense of India-Border Security Force (BSF) is always there to guard us. This all was marvellously exhibited at Lovely Professional University campus today by the officers, men and women constables of BSF. Thousands of students at the university availed the opportunity to observe closely latest weapons and the way they are used in border protection. This one-day exhibition displayed various types of guns, rifles, mortars, shells, their handling- operation and a photo gallery related to different BSF operations. BSF women constables inspired thousands of LPU girl-students through live demos in handling, assembling, loading rifles, light machine guns, being even blind folded, in a few seconds.

Inspector General of BSF Punjab Frontier, Mr. Ashok Kumar IPS shared his experiences with the students and motivated them to join BSF and serve the nation. IG informed that paramilitary forces like BSF play significant role in maintaining internal as well as external security of the country. He also informed about various career opportunities in BSF for both boys and girls. He also implored that students should stay away from evils like drugs. DIG Kharkan Training Camp Mr. HS Dhillon and other officers were themselves present on the occasion to let students know well about BSF.

Welcoming the top brass, officers and constables at the campus, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal: “We are happy to see the great endeavours of BSF men and women through this exhibition. Such programs should be organized time and again for the youth as these instill patriotism in us and a great sense of respect for brave soldiers of the country.” Mr. Mittal also invoked students to live the life of a soldier and have deep love for nation above all other things in the world.

Illustrative, the officers of BSF put up a large display of the weapons and artillery being used by them at borders. The students were also shown a small documentary prepared on officers of BSF, and different rules and regulations followed in BSF.  During the interactive session, students also interacted with BSF officers. Students came to know about the latest weapons including Pistols, Rifles, Sharp Shooter Guns, Anti Material Rifle, Rocket Launchers, Mortars, Bomb-shells, Heavy/light Machine Guns and more.
