India announces USD 500,000 scholarship for Indo-Pacific Students
The Quad countries affirmed their dedication to strengthening interpersonal connections and strategic partnerships, improving the relationships among the nations. With this in mind, India implemented a new initiative to provide fifty Quad scholarships, each worth USD 500,000, to students from the Indo-Pacific area.
This initiative enables people to enroll in a government-backed four-year engineering program at a technical institution in India.
Notably, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan, and President Joe Biden of the United States participated in the fourth Quad Leaders Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, which was organized by President Biden. Wilmington is where Biden is from.
"The Quad is committed to strengthening the deep and enduring ties between our people, and among our partners. Through the Quad Fellowship, we are building a network of the next generation of science, technology, and policy leaders," read the Wilmington Declaration.
The declaration further said, "India is pleased to announce a new initiative to award fifty Quad scholarships, worth USD500,000, to students from the Indo-Pacific to pursue a four-year undergraduate engineering program at a Government of India-funded technical institution.."
The Quad governments welcomed the second batch of Quad Fellows through the Institute of International Education, which manages the Quad Fellowship program. The Quad government was pleased to have the programme extended to include students from ASEAN countries for the first time.
