Kochi University of Technology (KUT) in Japan announces its Special Scholarship Program (SSP) for international students commencing the 2026 academic year.

This fully funded scholarship allows talented students to participate in cutting-edge research, with support from leading Japanese faculty members. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is October 17, 2026.

The program lasts for three years. All applicants must obtain permission from a professor supervising the project they want to conduct research in and declare their acceptance of that project before submitting their application.

The scholarship provides a total waiver of educational costs, including a 15,000 Yen entrance examination fee, a 300,000 Yen enrollment fee, and an annual fee of 535,800 Yen (tuition fees) for the full term.

Additionally, students will receive a generous living allowance of 150,000 Yen per month, which should offset living expenses in Japan, accommodation, and other personal expenses. A relocation allowance of 150,000 Yen will be provided to offset initial travel and accommodation in Japan.

Selected students will gain from professional research writing training led by native English-speaking teachers, Japanese language courses, and cultural immersion experiences to discover Japan's traditions, history, and society.

KUT provides PhD programs in a wide array of fields, including but not limited to Mechanical Engineering, Informatics, Data and Innovation, Intelligent Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Architecture and Infrastructure Design, Environmental Science, Electronic and Photonic Engineering, as well as Management Science.
