IIT Madras Launches Manufacturing Analytics PG Diploma

Indian Institute of Technology Madras said the web-enabled programme will commence on September 7, 2026, with applications open until May 31. The institute has invited eligible candidates to apply through its official portal.

The diploma is open to candidates holding three-year or four-year undergraduate degrees in relevant disciplines, including BSc Computer Science and Computer Applications, subject to the institute’s admission criteria.

Offered by the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, the programme is designed to address growing industry demand for professionals capable of applying analytics and AI to manufacturing operations, productivity enhancement and strategic decision-making.

The course is targeted at working professionals from large and medium-scale manufacturing organisations, as well as graduates seeking to build specialized capabilities in manufacturing analytics. The web-enabled format has been structured to support diverse learner needs.

The curriculum spans three academic terms over one year, from September to August, and carries a total of 90 credits. It combines mathematical foundations with contemporary subjects such as machine learning, deep learning and generative AI, while emphasising real-world manufacturing use cases.

Key courses include mathematical fundamentals for manufacturing analytics, digital transformation, machine learning and deep learning for manufacturing analytics, and generative AI for manufacturing analytics. Two hands-on modules — manufacturing analytics implementation I and II, focus on practical application. The programme culminates in a holistic assessment of AI in manufacturing analytics, enabling participants to evaluate AI adoption from technological, operational and organisational perspectives.

Highlighting the need for such programmes, Professor V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, added, “As India’s manufacturing sector accelerates its digital transformation, there is a clear need for programmes that combine academic depth with industry relevance. This postgraduate diploma reflects IIT Madras’ commitment to creating future-ready professionals who can lead technology-driven transformation in manufacturing.”
