India has about 789 universities, 37,204 colleges and 11,443 stand-alone institutions, making India’s higher education sector the second largest in the world and holding the capability to enrol 70 million more students. This denotes that there are 2,34,693 more students overseas in comparison to the total students in 2000, thus growing at a rate of 22% average annual growth rate over the last 16 years.
