The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 registration process is set to begin on August 14, 2026, offering eligible candidates an opportunity to apply for the national-level examination conducted by IIT Madras. Applicants can complete the registration process through the official GATE website, while the regular application window remains open until September 21, 2026. Candidates who miss the regular deadline can submit their applications until September 30 by paying an additional late fee.

To apply, candidates first create an account through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal and log in using their credentials. They then enter the required academic and personal information, complete a live facial scan and upload their photograph, signature and valid identity proof. Applicants are advised to keep all required documents ready before beginning the registration process to avoid errors or delays.
The application fee varies according to the candidate's category. Female candidates and those belonging to the SC, ST and PwD categories are required to pay ₹1,000 per paper during the regular registration period. The fee rises to ₹1,500 during the extended application period. For all other candidates, including foreign nationals, the regular fee is ₹2,000 per paper, increasing to ₹2,500 during the late application window.
Candidates should keep a recent photograph, live photograph, signature and valid photo identification document ready while applying. Category certificates, PwD or UDID certificates and other applicable documents must also be provided wherever required. Applicants are advised to verify all information carefully before submitting the application and paying the prescribed fee.
