IIEST Shibpur Expands BTech Options in Math & Computing

The Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) Shibpur introduces new undergraduate programmes, including a four-year Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Mathematics and Computing and integrated five-year Bachelor of Science–Master of Science (BS-MS) courses. The initiative aims to expand academic opportunities in emerging technology fields and strengthen interdisciplinary learning.

The newly launched BTech programme in Mathematics and Computing is designed to combine advanced mathematical concepts with computer science applications. The course focuses on developing expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, algorithms, and computational technologies. It prepares students for careers in software development, research, analytics, and technology-driven industries.

The programme admits students through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process based on JEE Main 2026 rankings. A limited number of seats are available for the first academic session, allowing the institute to maintain quality teaching, personalised learning, and industry-oriented training.

Along with the BTech programme, IIEST Shibpur launches integrated BS-MS programmes in Chemistry, Physics, and Applied Geology. These programmes are designed with flexible academic pathways, allowing students to pursue multidisciplinary education while gaining strong foundations in core sciences and applied research areas.

The BS-MS courses incorporate modern learning approaches aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, including multiple exit options and opportunities for skill development. The new academic offerings reflect IIEST Shibpur’s focus on preparing students for evolving industry demands and global research opportunities.
