IIIT Delhi Launches B.Tech in CS–Economics

- IIIT Delhi introduces B.Tech in Computer Science and Economics with 20 seats.

IIIT Delhi has introduced a new B. Tech program in Computer Science and Economics, offering 20 seats, while maintaining the same tuition fee for the fourth consecutive year.
Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT Delhi) has introduced a new B.Tech program in Computer Science and Economics with a capacity of 20 seats. For the fourth year in a row, there will be no fee increase for any undergraduate or postgraduate programs provided by the institute.
Prof Ranjan Bose, the Director of IIIT Delhi, stated that the institute has introduced various programs this year, including a B.Tech in Computer Science and Economics, a joint M.Tech degree, and a PG Diploma program. He described the new courses as “essential for solving real-world technology and policy challenges.”
In response to a question from Shiksha regarding the availability of seats in these courses for Delhi-NCR students, he mentioned that the admission process has started via JEE (Main), with 85 percent of the seats allocated for students from Delhi-NCR.

“Students will learn to analyse economic systems and design digital solutions through computing. It’s a course that bridges technology and finance,” Prof Bose said.
In response to a question from Shiksha, the Dean of IIIT Delhi stated that the 20 additional seats this year are designated for the newly introduced B.Tech in Computer Science and Economics. The Dean also stated that the institute has not raised tuition fees for the last four years, with the next assessment anticipated in February 2026. “Despite adding new courses and facilities, we have maintained the same fee structure,” the Dean said.
The institute has introduced a Postgraduate Diploma and a minor in Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), emphasizing human-centered design. Moreover, IIIT Delhi has launched a collaborative M.Tech program with Université Côte d’Azur, France, allowing three students from each institution to attend the partner university with mutual scholarships.
