BITS Pilani Doubles Full Tuition Scholarships to 1,000 Students

BITS Pilani expands its 100% tuition fee scholarship to the top 1,000 BITSAT 2027 rankers from families earning up to ₹20 lakh annually, subject to a minimum 7.5 CGPA.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani introduces the complete tuition fee waiver scholarship scheme for the top 1,000 rankers in the BITSAT test. The programme increases the number of ranks from the previous scheme’s ceiling of 500, thus increasing the financial help for students with academic merit.

As per the new scheme, the candidate who achieves rank within the top 1,000 in BITSAT 2027 will be eligible for a 100% tuition fee waiver for the entire four years of his/her undergraduate course, provided that his/her annual income does not cross ₹20 lakh.

The eligibility criteria for the scholarship are for those who get selected within the first 1,000 positions through BITSAT and fulfill the necessary income criterion for the family. The other requirement is that the students have to keep a minimum CGPA of 7.5 in their college campuses to continue getting the scholarship during the course of study.

The tuition fees would be paid under the scholarship scheme but it doesn't mean that the other fees like accommodation; admission etc. would also be covered. The confirmation of the scholarship would come along with the admission offer from BITS Pilani itself.

This scheme is applicable to students who are admitted to the integrated first-degree programmes at the institute through the BITSAT. The first-degree programmes at the institute include BE, MSc, and BPharm programmes.

The complete tuition scholarship scheme was first launched by BITS Pilani for the top 500 BITSAT rankers in the 2026 admission session. In addition to this, the scheme has been expanded by BITS Pilani for the top 1,000 candidates from 2027.

It has been reported by the Group Vice-Chancellor of BITS Pilani that there has been an increase of 50% in the number of applicants out of the top 500 rankers in 2026. The BITSAT score to gain entry into this pool has increased from 314 to 324.

BITS Pilani distributed about ₹190 crore as scholarships and fellowship through the 2025-26 session in the First Degree, Higher Degree, and PhD programs. Of this sum, ₹101 crore went towards scholarships for the undergraduates in merit, merit cum need, and international students scholarships.

It is claimed that out of every four undergraduate students studying in BITS Pilani, one gets financial assistance. The new scholarship program hopes to help even more top performing students by way of tuition assistance.
