IIT Hyderabad, Delhi Metro Ink Pact on Autonomous Mobility

  • IIT Hyderabad and DMRC partner on autonomous mobility solutions.
  • Focus on smart navigation, robotics, drones, and driverless systems.
  • Collaboration aims to improve metro efficiency and last-mile connectivity.

IIT Hyderabad and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) have entered into a partnership to collaboratively create advanced autonomous mobility and smart navigation solutions.

The formalised Memorandum of Understanding will unite DMRC’s operational expertise with the research ecosystem of TiHAN (Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation), IITH.

Under the agreement, TiHAN–IITH and DMRC will collaboratively create secure, intelligent, and scalable mobility solutions designed to revolutionize public transport systems and improve the commuting experience.

The collaboration will enable cutting-edge research and trial projects in autonomous unmanned ground vehicles, robotics, smart transport systems, self-flying drones, and navigation technologies intended for humanless operations, while enhancing integrated systems aimed at boosting last-mile connectivity within urban ecosystems.

Supported by the National Mission on Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) of the Department of Science and Technology, TiHAN–IITH offers robust knowledge in autonomous navigation, cyber-physical systems, and real-time data collection, reinforced by its advanced aerial and ground testbed.
