IIT Kanpur, Army Launch Advanced Cybersecurity Training

In a significant step to strengthen the nation’s cyber capabilities, IIT Kanpur has entered into an MoU with the Indian Army to roll out an advanced cybersecurity training program for its units and formations.

The program, delivered by C3iHub, IIT Kanpur’s premier cybersecurity research and innovation center, features two structured three-month modules designed to equip Army personnel with essential skills. It focuses on deepening understanding of emerging cyber threats, enhancing incident response capabilities, and boosting overall operational readiness in the digital domain.

Speaking on the partnership, Prof Somitra Sanadhya, Program Director, C3iHub, said, “This collaboration is a testament to C3iHub’s core mission of translating cutting-edge cybersecurity research into practical, mission-critical capabilities that directly strengthen national defence. We are proud and fully committed to serving the nation by equipping our armed forces with the knowledge and skills needed to prevail in the digital battlespace.”

By incorporating modern cyber defense frameworks into formal military training, this initiative aims to fortify the digital security ecosystem across the Central Command theatre. The MoU was formalized on Thursday in the presence of Lt. Gen Naveen Sachdeva, Chief of Staff, HQ Surya Command, and Prof. Somitra Sanadhya, Program Director, C3iHub. The agreement was signed on behalf of IIT Kanpur by Dr. Tanima Hajra, CEO of C3iHub.

This collaboration represents a major leap in India’s digital defense strategy and underscores the Army’s proactive approach to maintaining a strategic edge in an increasingly contested information landscape.
