IIT Hyderabad Launches Applied AI Certification Program

IIT Hyderabad launches a four-week Applied AI Professional Certification Programme to equip working professionals with practical skills in building, evaluating and deploying production-ready AI agent systems.

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad announces the launch of its novel Applied AI Professional Certification Program for working professionals willing to learn practical skills in creating AI applications. The four-week program is based on hybrid education and emphasizes hands-on learning of AI engineering and agentic systems.

The 2026 September batch spans from September 19 to October 17 and will comprise classes conducted by mentors every Saturday. Students can take part in the classes either through online means or by being physically present at the IIT Hyderabad campus.

One of the salient characteristics of the certification program is the consistent process of “learning, implementing, and building”. Rather than having separate theoretical and practical aspects of learning, participants get involved in building a production-level AI agent application through the course of the program. Concepts learned in the sessions are gradually implemented in the construction of the AI system.

This course is a wide-ranging one in terms of covering multiple facets of AI engineering today, such as tool usage, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), memory, orchestration, and multi-agent systems. This is coupled with the introduction of evaluation methods, observability, guardrails, and deployments to the learners.

The course will be imparted by professors from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at IIT Hyderabad, who include Dr Praveen Tammana, Dr Ashish Mishra, and Dr Anupam Sanghi, among others.

Guided learning and mentoring takes place between sessions for the learners in the program and they carry out various assignments and assessments in the process. The program ends with project demonstrations and presentations where the learners demonstrate the artificial intelligence systems that they have created.

Students who successfully fulfill the assigned tasks will be awarded the IIT Hyderabad Professional Certificate. This course is a reflection of the institute’s approach towards industry-focused AI training to allow professionals hands-on experience in developing and deploying new-age AI solutions.
