NIELIT and Intel India Launch Agentic AI Skilling Programmes

NIELIT and Intel India launch two Agentic AI skilling programmes to equip students and professionals with practical skills in AI systems that can reason, plan and execute tasks across emerging workplace environments.

Two new Agentic AI skill training programs have been initiated by NIELIT, which operates under the ambit of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, in partnership with Intel India. The program aims to train students, professionals, and individuals with knowledge about the latest advancements in artificial intelligence technologies and their practical applications at the workplace.

These initiatives are unveiled under the NIILIT-Intel India Agentic AI Skilling Programme in the context of a National Leadership Dialogue on “Preparing the Future Workforce for the Agentic AI Era,” held in New Delhi. This dialogue involves key stakeholders from the government, academia, industry, and the skilling ecosystem who deliberate on how work is transforming and the skill sets needed in light of the rising capacity of AI to do complex tasks.

This effort is launching two programs – “Agentic AI for All” and “Engineering Agentic AI Systems”. The first program will be geared towards offering insight into the concept of agentic AI and its applications. The second program aims to equip participants with skills needed to create and implement agentic AI solutions.

Agentic AI is the next stage in AI implementation that goes beyond the standard use of AI systems. Rather than merely responding to particular instructions, the agentic AI system uses the AI model to deduce the goal, create plans, and execute actions autonomously. The goal of the new programs, therefore, is to teach students about this process and its application in the workplace setting.

The training program aims to reach the trainees through NIELIT’s centres and institutes in India to bring industry-oriented Agentic AI training close to the learners. The partnership will take forward the ongoing relationship between NIELIT and Intel on developing workforce competency on AI. According to Intel, its “AI for Future Workforce” program, delivered in collaboration with NIELIT, already covers more than 47 centers and 100 training partners, and a base of 5 lakhs of students.

The new programme is being launched at a time when the need for artificial intelligence and digital skills in general keeps growing. The government training schemes are also including training in areas like AI, machine learning, robotics, cyber security, and many other emerging technologies.

NIELIT and Intel India are hoping to use this partnership to increase accessibility of agentic AI education and build a workforce that can handle the challenges brought about by AI. The partnership will also help in linking skill programs, academia, and industry demands to help in achieving the objective of the Indian government of having a future-ready digital workforce.
