IIT Roorkee Offers 6 to 11-Month Online AI Course

IIT Roorkee launches an online postgraduate certificate in AI-powered business applications for working professionals. The six-to-11-month programme covers machine learning, GenAI, LLMs, NLP and enterprise AI.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee launches a specialised online Postgraduate Certificate Programme in Building AI-Powered Business Applications, aimed at working professionals seeking to strengthen their expertise in artificial intelligence and its applications across business functions. The programme is designed for professionals working in technology, data analysis, product management and related fields.

The programme combines technical AI education with business-oriented learning, enabling participants to understand how emerging technologies can be applied to real-world organisational challenges. Depending on the specialisation selected, the programme runs for six to 11 months and is delivered through live online classes, with most sessions scheduled on weekends. The format allows working professionals to pursue the programme alongside their existing employment.

The curriculum covers several areas of artificial intelligence, including machine learning, generative AI, large language models (LLMs), natural language processing (NLP) and predictive business analytics. The programme is structured around four core modules covering AI and machine learning foundations, generative AI and LLMs, enterprise AI deployment, and AI strategy and governance.

The first module focuses on Python programming, predictive modelling and statistical decision-making for business. The generative AI component introduces participants to prompt engineering, custom LLM applications, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architecture and model fine-tuning. These areas are increasingly relevant to organisations integrating AI into customer services, knowledge management and business operations.

The enterprise AI module focuses on practical deployment, including integration with cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure, API development and MLOps. The programme also addresses AI strategy and governance, covering ethical AI, assessment of return on investment from AI initiatives and management of organisational AI transformation.

Practical learning forms another important component of the programme. Participants receive hands-on exposure through capstone projects, case studies and AI development platforms and frameworks. This approach is intended to help learners translate theoretical concepts into practical business applications and understand the implementation challenges associated with enterprise AI.

The programme is taught by IIT Roorkee faculty members and industry AI experts, combining academic instruction with practical industry perspectives. Successful participants receive a Postgraduate Certificate from IIT Roorkee along with executive alumni membership of the institute.
