IIT Madras Introduces BTech Program in AI, Entry Through JEE Advanced

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras, IIT Madras has announced its first BTech program. Take a step towards making students global leaders in the field of Artificial Intelligence, IIT Madras has announced the launching of its B.Tech in AI Program. Interested students will be able to study AI course from the next academic year of 2025-26.

Students who have cleared JEE Advanced can apply for this program. In the upcoming JOSSA Counselling they will have the option of taking this program. A total of 50 students will be admitted through JEE. The course code for the B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics at IIT Madras is 412L: Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics.

Highlighting this B.Tech. Program, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said, “AI and Data Analytics is an emerging area. This BTech course has a carefully evolved curriculum that is perfectly aligned with both the industry and research community needs. Many interesting challenges are in front of us and I am sure students shall immensely benefit by pursuing this course and shape their prosperous future.”

This flexibility for the B.Tech. Program will allow students to personalize their learning journey with offerings from within the department and beyond. From the fascinating area of Speech and Language Technology and Computer Vision to the Applications in Control and Detection and Time-Series Analysis, this degree will allow students to delve into areas of their own personal interests and passions.

Prof. B. Ravindran, Head, Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI, IIT Madras, stated, “Artificial Intelligence is a transformative technology. It is going to be the defining technological development, perhaps for another generation to come. WSAI allows us to synergize all the different AI and Data Science activities. We are making sure the students know enough about the fundamentals of AI so that they can pick up things on their own if they want to get into a research career."
