IIT Mandi Opens Dual PhD Admissions With Missouri S&T

IIT Mandi and Missouri S&T invite applications for their four-year Dual PhD Programme 2026, offering research opportunities in India and the US. Eligible candidates must apply by October 30.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi and Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T), United States, has invited applications for their Dual Doctoral Degree Programme 2026. The initiative offers eligible research candidates an opportunity to pursue doctoral studies at both institutions, combining academic training in India with international research experience. The application deadline is October 30, 2026.

The four-year programme is designed to promote international research collaboration in engineering, technology and related interdisciplinary fields. Students will spend the first two years at IIT Mandi, focusing on coursework and research, followed by two years at Missouri S&T for advanced research, dissertation work and fulfilment of the host university's doctoral requirements.

Candidates holding a master's degree in engineering or technology with a good academic record can apply. Applicants with a master's degree in science may also be considered if they demonstrate strong academic performance and exceptional merit, alongside a valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score or an equivalent national-level qualification, where applicable.

The programme also provides a direct PhD admission route for eligible candidates with a bachelor's degree in engineering or technology and an outstanding academic record. Certain direct-entry categories require a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5 on a 10-point scale or an equivalent qualification. Applicants should check the detailed admission requirements to determine which category applies to them.

Candidates must satisfy the admission requirements of both institutions. International applicants to Missouri S&T must meet the university's prescribed English-language proficiency requirements, which may include the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Applicants who have taken the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are encouraged to submit their scores. However, individual academic departments may waive this requirement for eligible candidates. Students must also obtain the mandatory qualifications for admission to Missouri S&T within one year of beginning the doctoral programme at IIT Mandi.
