IIT Mandi Launches BTech in Quantum Science Program

Synopsis: IIT Mandi has launched a new BTech in Quantum Science and Engineering for 2026-27, alongside two data-driven engineering programmes. The courses aim to prepare students for emerging technology sectors and interdisciplinary careers.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has introduced a new Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme in Quantum Science and Engineering for the 2026-27 academic sessions, marking a significant step towards strengthening education in next-generation technologies. Alongside this programme, the institute has also launched BTech courses in Agricultural Engineering with Data Analytics and Chemical Engineering with Data Analytics, reflecting its growing emphasis on interdisciplinary and industry-oriented education.
The newly introduced programmes are designed to align engineering education with the evolving demands of technology-driven industries. By integrating emerging fields such as quantum technologies, artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics into traditional engineering disciplines, IIT Mandi aims to equip students with future-ready skills and enhance their employability in rapidly transforming sectors.
The BTech in Quantum Science and Engineering is among the most notable additions to the institute’s academic portfolio. The programme offers a comprehensive curriculum covering quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing, quantum materials and hardware engineering. Students will also gain exposure to complementary areas such as computer science, mathematics and artificial intelligence, enabling them to develop expertise in both theoretical and applied aspects of quantum technologies.
