IIT Mandi Opens PRAYAS 4.0 Applications in AI, IoT

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has opened applications for PRAYAS 4.0, a one-month residential programme which focuses on emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT). The programme will take place from July 2026 at the IIT Mandi campus which the institute's Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) organizes.

The program PRAYAS which stands for "Promoting and Accelerating Young and Aspiring Students" delivers practical technical education through advanced technology demonstrations. The program aims to help students and learners build industry-relevant skills through project-based training, laboratory sessions, and expert guidance from IIT Mandi faculty members.

The course is open to participants from diverse educational backgrounds, and prior technical expertise is not mandatory. The organisers described the program as suitable for beginners who want to learn fundamental AI robotics and IoT technologies together with their practical applications. Participants will spend between 5 and 6 hours each day in both classroom and laboratory sessions which combine theoretical knowledge with actual practice.

During the one-month period, students will study embedded systems and machine learning and computer vision and sensor technologies and intelligent automation and IoT integration. The students will participate in directed capstone projects while they use the advanced laboratory facilities of IIT Mandi and its research centers. The program's residential design establishes a learning environment that promotes students to develop their technical skills through collaborative innovation.

The programme fee is ₹62,400 plus GST, which includes accommodation and food at the IIT Mandi campus. Candidates who want to join the program must pay a blocking fee of ₹2,000 through the official registration portal to reserve their seats. The Centre for Continuing Education at IIT Mandi will award participants with certificates after they complete the program successfully.

IIT Mandi launched this program to offer advanced technology education and experiential learning programs to Indian students who wish to study at the institute. Experts believe these brief residential programs create a connection between academic knowledge and the actual requirements of industries in technological fields which develop at a fast pace.
