DRDO Opens Scientist Recruitment 2026 Applications

Synopsis:   DRDO opens applications for 33 Scientist C, D and E positions through RAC. Eligible professionals can apply online until June 19, with salaries ranging from ₹67,700 to ₹1.23 lakh per month.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have launched a recruitment drive for experienced scientists and engineers, inviting applications for multiple positions under its Defence Research and Development Service (DRDS) cadre. The recruitment process is being conducted through the Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC), offering qualified professionals an opportunity to contribute to India’s defence technology and research ecosystem.

According to the official notification, DRDO is recruiting for a total of 33 vacancies across the grades of Scientist C, Scientist D and Scientist E. The vacancies include 20 positions for Scientist C, 11 for Scientist D and two for Scientist E. Interested candidates can submit their applications online through the RAC portal until June 19, 2026, with the application window closing at 4 pm on the final day.

The recruitment campaign aims to attract highly skilled professionals capable of supporting advanced defence research and innovation projects. Eligibility requirements vary according to the post. Applicants seeking the Scientist C position must possess a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience and should not be older than 35 years. Candidates applying for Scientist D must have at least seven years of experience, while those interested in Scientist E positions are required to have a minimum of 11 years of relevant work experience. The upper age limit for Scientist D and Scientist E posts is 45 years.

The positions offer attractive salary packages under the Seventh Central Pay Commission framework. Scientist C candidates receive a basic monthly pay of ₹67,700, while Scientist D officers are entitled to a basic salary of ₹78,800 per month. Scientist E officers receive a basic pay of ₹1, 23,100 per month, making it one of the most prestigious opportunities for experienced researchers and technologists in the government sector.

DRDO emphasises that scientists recruited through this process will engage in research, development and technological advancement across diverse scientific and engineering disciplines.
