IIT ISM Dhanbad Opens JRF Recruitment Applications

Synopsis: IIT (ISM) Dhanbad invites applications for one Junior Research Fellow position in electronics and nanotechnology research. Eligible candidates can apply via email until June 7, 2026, with a fellowship of Rs 37,000 per month.
The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad has invited applications for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a sponsored research project, offering an opportunity for candidates to work in advanced areas of electronics, nanotechnology, computational modelling, and emerging technology research. The recruitment drive is aimed at attracting qualified researchers interested in interdisciplinary scientific and engineering projects at one of India’s premier technical institutions.
According to the official notification, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has announced one vacancy for the Junior Research Fellow position. The selected candidate will receive a consolidated monthly fellowship of Rs 37,000 and will be engaged in research activities related to semiconductor technologies, nanoelectronics, biosensors, materials science, and computational simulations. The position is project-based and will involve participation in cutting-edge research initiatives being carried out at the institute.
Candidates applying for the position must possess an MTech or ME degree in disciplines such as VLSI Design, Electronics, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Microelectronics, Nanotechnology, Materials Science and Engineering, or related fields. Applicants with a BTech or BE degree in ECE, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Instrumentation, or equivalent disciplines can also apply, provided they hold a valid GATE or NET qualification.

The institute has stated that candidates with experience in computational modelling, nanoelectronics, biosensor development, materials science research, and simulation tools such as Quantum ESPRESSO, SIESTA, or NanoTCAD ViDES will be preferred. Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques, along with the ability to work independently and contribute to interdisciplinary research teams, will provide an added advantage during the selection process.
The upper age limit for applicants is 28 years, while age relaxation will be applicable for reserved category candidates in accordance with government norms. The selection process will involve shortlisting based on academic merit, research experience, and project requirements, followed by an interview that may be conducted either online or in person.
Interested candidates are required to submit their applications through email by sending a complete bio-data, educational certificates, experience documents, identification proof, and other supporting materials in the prescribed format. The last date for submission of applications is June 7, 2026.
