IIT Roorkee, C-MET Launch MTech Program on E-Waste Management

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, collaborating with the Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET) Hyderabad, has introduced a new MTech program focused on E-Waste Management.

This initiative is a huge effort to enhance national capacities and cultivate specialized knowledge to address the increasing environmental and technological issues presented by electronic waste. It reflects India’s dedication to fostering sustainable development and enhancing a technology-oriented economy.

In this partnership, IIT Roorkee and C-MET have also established a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in essential fields like advanced materials research, e-waste recycling, and creating innovative technologies.

In this collaborative initiative, both organizations seek to significantly address one of the most urgent environmental challenges of the digital era while bolstering the nation's wider objectives in research, sustainability, and technological advancement.

The collaboration additionally creates opportunities for student internships, collaborative doctoral research, exchange of academic resources, and shared access to advanced R&D facilities. It represents a common goal to improve India’s abilities in sustainable electronics, circular economy strategies, and innovation-centered manufacturing.

The partnership is designed to facilitate the sharing of faculty, researchers, and students between C-MET and IIT Roorkee.
