IITs Offer 10 Free Aerospace Courses via SWAYAM Platform

In an exciting chance for future aerospace engineers and technology enthusiasts, India’s top engineering schools — IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Kharagpur — are jointly providing 10 complimentary online courses on diverse advanced subjects in Aerospace Engineering.
These courses are available on the SWAYAM platform and can be accessed entirely free of charge by all learners who fulfill the eligibility requirements.
These courses include basic and advanced subjects such as aircraft design, propulsion, UAV systems, and flight mechanics. The registration period remains open until August 15, 2025, with courses lasting from July to October 2025, and assessments planned between September and November.
IIT Bombay is offering two courses: Introduction to Aerospace Engineering, which provides a basic understanding of Aeronautical Engineering through 10 structured modules, and Introduction to Aircraft Design, which covers topics such as configuration design, aerodynamic analysis, and life-cycle costing.
IIT Delhi is offering Elements of Mechanical Vibration, a course focused on vibration theory in machinery and structural design. The exam for this course is scheduled for November 2, 2025.
IIT Kanpur is offering a range of specialized courses. Introduction to Airplane Performance explores aircraft performance, design, and testing, with the exam on September 21. Aircraft Stability and Control teaches the principles of airplane control and stability, with the exam on November 1. Design of Fixed-Wing UAVs focuses on UAV design, performance, and testing, also scheduled for an exam on September 21.
UAV Design – Part II offers advanced UAV design concepts and simulation techniques. Airbreathing Propulsion covers the mechanics of jet and rocket engines, with the exam set for October 26. Applied Computational Fluid Dynamics introduces concepts like compressible flow, numerical methods, and CFD applications.
IIT Kharagpur is offering Space Flight Mechanics, which focuses on orbital mechanics, Lagrange points, and gravitational dynamics. The exam for this course is scheduled on November 1.

These courses are structured for self-paced learning, featuring video lectures, assignments, and final assessments. While access is free, students have the option to pay a fee to take the monitored exam and receive a certificate.
