NIT Hamirpur, IIT Bombay Sign MoU for Student Exchange

  • Up to five NIT Hamirpur students can complete their final year at IIT Bombay.

The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, enabling students to have access to state-of-the-art facilities, receive high-level technical training, and engage in new research opportunities.

This MoU will allow as many as five meritorious students from selected engineering domains of NIT Hamirpur to complete their final year of studies in IIT Bombay, as was formally announced on Friday.

This activity is intended to provide students a hands-on experience in advanced laboratories and specialized programs, as well as to pursue joint research.

The MoU was executed on Thursday night in the presence of NIT Director H M Suryavanshi and IIT Bombay Dean (International Relations) Sudarshan Kumar.

Regarding the collaboration, Suryavanshi described it as a significant achievement in NIT Hamirpur's development narrative, stating, “It will provide our students with world-class experience and prepare them for global competition.”

Kumar mentioned that the partnership would enhance scholarly interaction and encourage innovation, stating, “We welcome the students of NIT Hamirpur to IIT Bombay. This initiative will further broaden their academic horizons and expose them to diverse learning environments.”

Siddharth Sharma, Dean (Academics) at NIT-Hamirpur, highlighted that this initiative would enhance students' technical expertise and equip them for competitive prospects in India and worldwide.

The MoU marks an important advancement in enhancing institutional collaboration among top engineering colleges in India, providing students with a unique chance to gain from state-of-the-art research, guidance from esteemed faculty, and experience within a cooperative academic environment.
