Sheffield University opens MSc FinTech applications 2026

The University of Sheffield, UK, has started accepting applications for its MSc Financial Technology and Innovation program, which will be starting in September 2026. This master course aims to equip students to the rapidly changing fintech industry by incorporating theoretical knowledge with practical skills. It focuses on students from different academic backgrounds who wish to work in finance, accounting, or technology-driven areas.

The curriculum highlights practical experience with the latest technologies such as Bloomberg databases, Python programming, and generative AI, which train the students' analytical and technical abilities that are most appreciated by recruiters.

The chief modules are Innovation in Finance and Accounting, Decentralised Finance and Blockchain, Python for Accounting and Finance, Ethical Challenges: Governance and Regulation, Principles of Data Analytics, Portfolio Management and Investment, Global Financial Markets and Institutions, and Sustainable Finance besides others.

The interaction of students with guest lectures from industry leaders and the option of dissertation projects with external companies are some of the ways students acquire hands-on experience. Unquestionably a three- or four-year bachelor’s degree with at least 60% from a recognized university is the requirement for eligibility, also an IELTS score of 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each component) or any other English proficiency qualification of equivalent level.

The tuition fee for the 2026 academic year for foreign students will be £35,840 per annum.
