VTU, Google Partner to Train Karnataka Engineers

Synopsis: Visvesvaraya Technological University has partnered with Google to train engineering students in AI, cloud computing, and digital technologies, enhancing industry-ready skills and improving employability across Karnataka.

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has inked a historic pact with Google to train its engineering students at various locations of Karnataka in the areas of artificial intelligence and new-age digital technologies. The pact is designed to address the disparity between classroom studies and industrial demands by helping students gain job-oriented knowledge in fast-evolving technology sectors.

In this collaboration, Google will provide specialized learning courses in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, Google Gemini, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and other digital technologies. This program aims to prepare students for a career in the tech industry by providing them practical knowledge of tools used in the industry.

It is anticipated that in its first phase, this programme will reach out to about 20,000 engineering students at VTU. The students will have access to learning materials, certification courses, projects, and training that is aimed at improving their technical skills as well as making them more employable. It will supplement the present engineering curriculum as well as expose the students to the practical use of new technologies.

The management of the university said the deal is the first academic partnership between VTU and Google, showing the dedication of the university to updating its engineering education according to technological developments all around the world. It will also help the university reach its aim of fostering innovation and industry-academia partnerships.

This partnership has been created to respond to the increased need for experts in AI and cloud computing technologies.
