Tamil Nadu has long been recognized as one of India’s strongest hubs for science education. With a legacy of renowned universities, research institutes, and an innovation-driven academic culture, the state continues to produce highly skilled experts who contribute to sectors such as pharmaceuticals, energy, environmental sciences, materials research, and biotechnology.

Arasu College of Arts & Science for Women stands proudly within this ecosystem as an institution dedicated to elevating Chemistry education for women, especially those from rural communities. The School of Chemistry blends academic excellence with research-driven learning and robust industry exposure.

Its state-of-the-art laboratories and strong linkages with premier scientific institutions including the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), CECRI, National Institute of Chemical Technology (NICT), and the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) offer students a rare opportunity to experience advanced scientific environments.

Established in 2018–19 under the leadership of Chairman Dr P. Nadesan and Secretary & Convener Advocate M. Kannan, Arasu College, began with a mission to provide accessible and value-based higher education for women.

In just six years, it has grown into a vibrant institution with over 2,000 students and a reputation for discipline, inclusivity, and academic excellence. Today, it stands as one of the most respected women’s colleges in Karur and Namakkal districts, empowering young women to become confident, responsible global citizens.

Unmatched Academic Strength & Research-Driven Learning

The Chemistry program at Arasu College of Arts & Science for Women stands out for its strong integration of theoretical insight, experimental proficiency, and research-oriented learning. Designed to nurture critical thinking, analytical capability, and problem-solving skills, the curriculum ensures that students gain continuous laboratory exposure alongside industry-focused training.

Regular participation in national workshops, funded research initiatives, and hands-on internships equips learner for careers in pharmaceuticals, chemical industries, environmental laboratories, research organizations, and advanced academic pathways.

The School of Chemistry is guided by Dr T. Shanthi and supported by eight highly experienced faculty members with expertise across diverse branches of Chemistry. The institution prioritizes continuous faculty development through FDPs, national and international seminars, industry visits, and collaborative research activities.

Strengthening its academic ecosystem, the college has established MoUs with renowned institutions such as St. Joseph’s College, Trichy, and Moddiy Cross College, enabling faculty–student exchange programs and joint research opportunities.

Faculty members actively mentor students in publishing research papers, drafting patents, and preparing project proposals. Numerous students have also benefitted from CSR-funded research training at IICT, IIP, CLRI, CSIR institutes, and IGCAR, reflecting the department’s strong research culture and industry alignment.
