Set up with a vision to work towards shaping the minds of students to become better human beings with a higher intellect for a better tomorrow, Burhani College has been educating youth since 1970. Located in the heart of South Mumbai, this institution is a brainchild of the 52nd leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, the late His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin,who had set a vision for the institution which is- ‘Knowledge for all’. The college is now guided by the late Syedna’s son and the 53rd leader of the community, His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin .

Affiliated to the University of Mumbai, Burhani College offers six undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The college offers Masters in Commerce as a post-graduate program. At the undergraduate level, the college offers Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Bachelor of Management Studies (B.M.S) offering 3 elective of Marketing, Human Resource and Finance, Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media and Communication (B.A.M.M.C) offering 2 electives of Advertising and Journalism. Along with these courses, the college also offers a Junior College in Commerce and Arts, and Certificate courses in vital life skills under the Sciences of the Home program.

They have recently collaborated with the prestigious Harvard Business School Online (HBSO) and offer certification courses such as Design Thinking and Innovations, Entrepreneurship Essentials, Leadership Principles which have benefited the participants tremendously and enabled them to create a global connection and network.

The Media and Mass Communication is one of the sectors in India which is booming by leaps and bounds, and it provides a good number of opportunities to the youth of the country. As India is growing exponentially in all fields and is poised to grow more in the coming decades, the media industry is bound to thrive. Various seminars, workshops, field trips are organized to familiarize the students with the practical aspect of Mass Media.Burhani College has always endeavoured to provide its students with quality education, and in line with this philosophy, the college provides its students with the best faculty from the industry.

Emanating Quality Education For All
Burhani College offers all the pertinent government scholarships to the students along with the benefits of part-payments to those students who cannot pay their fees at the beginning of their course. The college is very proactive if a student wishes to apply to a nonprofit for education assistance, and, in such cases, the college extends all the support to students to complete the application process and receive the grant.

Burhani College has a collaboration with the Business Development Division (BDD) of Anjumane Shiate Ali, a body incorporated to promote business. The college also organizes timely job fairs for its students and through such programs, the students are prepared to be confident and make a career path for themselves. A Job Fair was held in collaboration with Maharashtra Skill Development Council to provide placement opportunities for students and alumni. The college also has an Incubation Centre to provide a platform for new ideas and young entrepreneurs.

Additionally in line with the vision – ‘Knolwedge for All’, the college has been recognized as a training partner for the National Skill Development Corporation under which they are eligible to offer free vocational certification courses. “This collaboration with NSDC will help students of our college and the youngsters in the local community to learn relavant skills and help generate a skilled workforce. We are excited to offer courses in the areas of BFSI, Information Technology, Media and many other avenues.”, states Dr. Talib Yusuf, Dean of Academic Affairs.

Burhani College has a dedicated Training and Placement cell which ensures that students can be trained to handle the corporate and business world. “The college’s endeavour has always been to make the students business minded, and therefore, the workshops and seminars focus on instituting the business mindset in them”, states Ms. Naheed Ansari, Academic Director. Burhani College conducts mock interviews, group discussions and other activities to ensure that students can be better prepared for interviews.
