With the sheer determination of emphasizing and imparting quality education in the field of hospitality, Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology was initiated. Located at Tathawade on the Bangalore-Mumbai Express Highway near Pune, the institute owns a sprawling and beautiful campus offering the students with well-ventilated and spacious classrooms, seminar halls, well-equipped training kitchens, training bar and restaurants, front office lab, housekeeping lab, computer lab and so on. Furthermore, for advocating a sophisticated and smooth learning process, the institute has a full-fledged library with OPAC and DELNET with over 10000 books, providing the students with a better learning environment with adequate learning materials. The noteworthy fact about the institution is that, they offer a blend of two professional courses at UG level, with an annual intake capacity of 60 students in Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (BHMCT), approved by AICTE, affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University and 120 in B.Sc. Hospitality Studies also affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. The institute offers choice based credit and grading system as well as a range of elective options in the curriculum, so that the students can access the subjects they are really interested in. In this regards, there is a constant collaboration with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) for revision and awareness, training in curriculum development and implementation. Dr. Somnath Patil, Secretary, Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidya Patil Vidya Pratishthan Society, mentions, “In order to enrich the curriculum, the core departments, conducts shortterm soft skills and communication skills training programs leading to holistic development of students. Likewise, workshop on writing of resume, interview skills, mock interview sessions with operational heads and training heads and so on are also organized from time totime, to counter balance the hands on

training of the students.” Apart from theoretical teaching, the instructor essentially lays focus and significance on learner centric ICT based teaching and pedagogic innovations.
