Pharma at IEC“Pharmacy is a profession concerned with an applied science of preparing from natural and synthetic sources suitable and convenient materials for distribution and use in the treatment and prevention of diseases. It embraces knowledge of the identification, selection, formulation, pharmacological action, preservation, analysis and standardization of medicines and their proper and safe distribution and use,” opines Dr. Bhanu P. S. Sagar (Director-Pharmacy). In collaboration with Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland, IEC is offering a unique program, Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Science. The M.Sc Pharmaceutical Science component provides a systematic understanding of the drug development process from initial discovery through research and development to the regulatory approval process and commercialization. The program enables students to design and manage major projects, critically evaluate data and lead multidisciplinary teams. Along with that, the M.Pharm course deals mainly with the study of process of drug development, formulation, and production, quality control and quality assurance, pharmacokinetics, drug designing and evaluation in R&D and clinical research and new drug discovery.

“This collaborative program will not only give students a strong theoretical background but will also allow them to think out of the box on a global platform. Students will acquire broad knowledge of contemporary, integrated drug discovery strategies and develop the skills to communicate effectively across the key, diverse component disciplines with other professional scientists,” claims Dr. Bhanu. On the other side, Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) program was conceived by IEC to impart innovative and industry oriented pragmatic education of Pharmaceutical Sciences to the students so that they can have an ever-glowing career in the domain of Pharmaceutical or life sciences both nationally and internationally. “We started pharma courses with the vision of “Pharmaceutical Education at Excellence” to reach new horizons. Now it is in its Tenth year of inception, but with a strong support from the management, dedicated faculty and State-of-Art infrastructure and facilities, it has earned a distinguished name for itself,”

says Dr. Bhanu. After successful completion of the B.Pharm course, the students get placement in the fields like production and manufacturing, Research and development of drugs in various government and private pharmaceutical organizations, quality control and quality assurance of drug, Specialty hospitals like Max, Apollo, Rockland and Pharmaceutical companies like NOVARTIS, GLAXO- SMITHCLINE, PFIZER, CIPLA, RANBAXY and Dr. REDDY, Clinical research like SRL Ranbaxy, Apollo and so on.“With our commitment we have elevated our Pharmacy Department and made it an icon and destination for high quality pharmaceutical education not only in the state of UP and NCR but also in whole of the India and finally throughout the globe,” says Dr. Bhanu. All laboratories of Pharmacy Department in IEC are well equipped with modern scientific instruments of excellent quality, which are useful for analysis and research. Each laboratory is having sufficient space to perform experimental work.
