According to a research conducted at the national level, educational attainment among females is much lower than males. Similarly, minority groups like Muslims have lower levels of education when compared to others. To combat these problems Maharashtra College of Arts, Science and Commerce was established in the year 1968 with a vision to bring higher education to the doorsteps of the economically underprivileged students, especially belonging to the Muslim Minority, emphasizing on their all-round development. The institute’s aim is clearly showcased in the total number of students out of which 70 per cent are female students from the minority communities.
Other than just providing quality education, Maharashtra College of Arts, Science and Commerce work with a much deeper vision to provide opportunities for higher education especially to girls from the Muslim community within their locality and develop moral and intellectual outlook among students and inculcate principles of unity and national integration. Dealing mostly with first-generation learners, the institute takes extra effort and care to turn those students to exceptional individuals who are equipped with the right set of skills and mentality needed to thrive in this modern era.
Ensuring Quality Education
The pass percentage of Maharashtra College of Arts, Science and Commerce has always been above the pass percentage of the University in all faculties and the quality of the education provided by the institute is further highlighted by the hat-trick of Gold Medals won by their students at the University of Mumbai in 2016 for Urdu, 2017 for English and 2018 for Urdu.
